Improper "Big Pharma" Influence in Medicine is VERIFIED!

This is a BIG step in the right direction for health care in the USA! It has been no secret, but no one was talking about it since the monetary benefits that many doctors are receiving from these companies made this unlikely. I mean - if you were the type to only care about money (which is why many become doctors in the first place), wouldn't you want a free trip to Cancun by putting other people on basically unproven and even harmful chemical substances?

Catherine D. De Angelis, MD, MPH and Phil B. Fontanarosa, MD, MBA have submitted this timely (and likely unwelcome) article into the April 16, 2008 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), entitled "Impugning the Integrity of Medical Science - the Adverse Effects of Industry Influence."

What is even more awesome is that this was broadcast on the same day on the morning edition of Talk Radio's "Paul Harvey" show, so this information has come to the attention of many Americans today!

I am happy to see that some doctors do in fact have some integrity. This may also be an opening for safer alternative methods to be approved by the AMA for doctors to use and not feel like they will have their medical licensing taken away if they recommend a proven herbal remedy (as an example) instead of the new designer drugs of the day. I hope this allows them the courage to step forward now that the door has been opened!

We can help by showing this to our medical providers (if you have those) this article, and telling them about this, they can maybe take additional steps as doctors to become more able to practice alternative and natural techniques without risking their careers. Also, tell your friends in any way you can, so that they can demand alternative therapies be implemented or they will go elsewhere now that this article ought to free up other practitioners to use these methods. This also provides some validation for Alternative practitioners who have known about these dangers all along. Health care freedom (and responsibility) is up to all of us - please spread the message!

Just over a year ago, my Guides encouraged me to blend several of my practices to create this meditation to acknowledge the source of blockages in my chakras and shift my perception by holding back the veil....so to speak.
Particular essential oils immediately effect the limbic system in our brain and can reach areas where toxins are stored from emotional traumas we have experienced in the past. By traveling to "receptors" that can only be reached through our olfactory sense, essential oils are a pathway to healing ourselves.
Several years ago I began channeling aromatic blends at the encouragement of life circumstances and the ethers. Not every scenario that calls for essential oils is indexed in books...and we all do afterall, respond to things differently.
My passion is to make custom blends for individuals...but several years ago a dear friend asked for me to develope a chakra set to be used for Reiki...and so this series was created.
I was simutaneously involved with an apprenticeship in the Tarot...And when I was able to acknowledge I had a blockage in my throat, I asked for guidance and the meditation came to be.
These are individual journeys...the scents themselves will open things up to you...I am here to guide you and support you through the process.
For the next few months I will be doing sessions for donations in exchange of gathering individual imput about the journey.
If you are interested in participating in one of these sessions with small groups of people please contact me.

Well, for the longest time they were selling a new line of mens' products under the brand name of Caldo--I have never seen this for sale anywhere else! Anyway, I found them selling, under this line, an *amazing* cologne that smelled soooooo sexy, called either "oakmoss" or "moss". So, time when by, and I noticed that their selection dwindled until I noticed they had two "Tester Bottles" on display, and no new bottles for purchase. Well, one day I finally had some money to afford a bottle, so I asked a sales person about this, and he brought along one of his "higher ups" when they told me that they didn't have it in stock anymore, and couldn't get it in either! (I could never even find it at Target.Com) So, they took both bottles away (one of which was 100% full!) and threw them away right in front of me, rather than offering to allow me to have one (or even buy one at a reduced price)--I could hear the bottles break as they delibberately threw them into a trash can so that they shattered. I was sooooo pissed!!! That was one of the most amazing cologne that I've ever seen (and *I'm* picky)! I just wish I knew if there was anything I could do about this. *sigh* I wonder if Caldo has a site anywhere (I haven't been able to find one), or if I could contact someone at Target.Com, or even my own local Target?

I am wondering if any one has any idea as to what I can do for my self to overcome this disfunction. I am currently taking a multi and mag/cal reverse ratio, pantothinic acid and B complex. I have made an herbal mixtute of three parts. 1.Austragulus, valarian, siberian gensing, and licorise. 2.St. johns wart, ginkco. lemon balm, scullcap, chamamile, oat straw. 3.Spiriment, chamimile, and hybiscus. The last set is just to make it taste yummy. I do physical therapy too. It is the nervous system overreacting and affects my circulation. The body does not recieve enough oxygen either. I know it is rare, but if any one has either known someone, or has worked with someone , please let me know what you or they have tried that seemed to work. Thank you and blessing.

Hey guys, one of the key-ingredients for a Potion I want to blend-- an Employment Potion-- is Sandalwood Oil. Anywya, I only have about $15 (I'm reserving $5 for s/h) to spend on Essential Oils, plus a carrier (something happened to my bottle of sweet almost, 'cause it's no longer in my apothacarey!)-- this budget also includes the shipping fee. So, I was wondering if anyone knows of REALLY CHEAP essential oils suppliers I could do business with? The folks I usually buy oils from-- Isis Books & Gifts [http://www.isisbooks.Com]-- are asking for $12/dram of Sandalwood oil! So, I thought to myself, "Surely this is a drastic mark up per dram! After all, the Dryad Design idol of my beloved Morrighan that I bought from Ancient Ways for $45 is being sold at Isis for $90!!!!!!"

Anyway, I also need some Bay (Laurel) Oil, for "winning" and "victory"...though, I've got some ground cinnamon for success, some sea salt for "money" (our word, "salary", comes from a Roman expression for salt). Though, I'd like to add at least two other fragrances, if I can: Now, I immediately thought of baybarry ('cause, "a baybery candle burned down to the socket, always puts money in the pocket!"), but...I don't want a potion that smells *too* piney and herbally, as well as woodsy! So, I may be looking for two other possible ingredients! Anyone else care to recommend anything they can think of-- particularly with some herb-lore attached-- centered around money and actual "work" or "employment" to some extent? ;o)

Heck, on top of that I need to buy two candles (I only buy my ritual candles from SomaLuna.Com!), and at least one sheet of parchment. I just hope I can afford all this for the spell I have planned-- jeeze, it sucks not having the supplies on hand when you REQUIRE them for use!

I tried scoring a job once before without any sort of a Magickal aid, and I made a promice to myself that I'd never do it again without one!

Take Care,
Wade

PS: You know, as commonly used as Sandalwood Essential Oil is-- particularly in aromatherapy-- you'd think it's be skags cheaper than what I've seen it!

PPS: Please, *no one* recommend AzureGreen as a source. I *refuse* to purchase oils from them, because, despite their claims to being "Essential Oils" (at their quantity and prices), they clearly only sale fragrence oils!

PPPS: Also, if anyone's gonna' say, "Well, you might have to just bite the bullet!", don't bother responding. ;o) That's defeatist! Besides, there's ALWAYS a choice, or an option! You just have to find it, first.

There is a crisis in health freedom. On April 30, 2007 the FDA will close the public comment period on a "Guidance" which will classify every alternative practice as medicine so that only licensed physicians can carry out the procedure AND vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc., will suddenly become "untested drugs" which will be forbidden.
-	manipulative and body-based practices (any hands-on bodywork)
-	mind-body medicine (specifically includes meditation, yoga, spirituality!)
-	“whole medical systems” (e.g., Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, Naturopathy).
* The FDA is, in fact, attempting to claim “regulation rights” to ANY products or devices used in the provision of ANY of these therapies if any health benefits are claimed.
* There is language that would define all untested herbs as drugs or “new drugs.”
* There is specific language that would define vegetable juice as a drug IF therapeutic benefits were claimed.
* There is language that would claim regulation rights to any food additives (such as botanicals or enzymes), unless they were commonly used in foods prior to January 1, 1958, or have since been scientifically tested safe.
* There is language that would classify the bacteria in probiotics in the same category as vaccines and viruses, and therefore require a license to transport them across state lines.

Hey guys, does anyone know how onw might go about formulating an incense that smells like pumpkin pie? I was shopping last Thursday at a favourite occult shop of mine that were selling 100 sticks of incense for $5 (what a deal!). Anyway, I bought a bag of pumpkin [pie] incense and have been woindering ever since how one might constitute a similarly scented incense (not particularly in stick form). What base might best be used so the natural base-scent simply wouldn't get in the way? As for the spices-- that sho7uld be easy enough: Just use the Essential Oils found in most recipes for pumpkin pie, but...what about the pumpkin-y scent? What about *that*?

Take care,
Wade MacMorrighan

P.S.--Anyone know how one might make an Apple Blossom Incense from scratch, too (it's one of my *favourite* scents), without using an apple blossom fragrance oil (after all, there must be a way to duplicate the fragrance of a synthetic!).

It is a really quiet diffuser crafted in a wooden base. I love it, it was highly recommended by my aromatherapy teacher and he said it was the most effective way of using oils apart from ingesting them. The oil is diffused, not heated up and therefore retains it's energetic qualities, and it goes straight into you blood through your lungs!

For some reason you have to register with florihana to look at their catalogue, but give it a go and see if you like it!

What I have learnt so far is that there is a difference betweeen oils used for perfumery, and those used for therapy, and that one should seek a higher quality oil (therapeutic grade) for therapeutic purposes.

So, I was at Whole Foods on Saturday, and I saw that they are now carrying a box of organic goodies for lovers with warming lotion (a lotion that gets warm when you blow on it) and sensual massage oil, similar to the products sold by Kama Sutra products. This box at Whole Foods had a lotion with the consistency of a thin gel called "clit cream" that warms. I put a little on my lips just to test it out and they felt very full, plump and warm in just a few moments. It was great stuff!!

I'd love to make something like this for myself and my new boyfriend to enjoy.
I have heard that cinnamon oil and/or clove oil works very well, but I have never tried it. I think I'd be too afraid that I did not have the proper dilution and I'd feel like I was burning myself!!

Has anyone tried to make any kind of mix like this?

II. How to Mix
When mixing aromatherapy blends the first priority is healing. The longer you study, the more your knowledge will grow. Learn the basic chemistry and actions of all oils before you try them. Mix with an eye on safety; always dilute properly and learn which oils to avoid with particular conditions.
An affinity for numbers will help you mix oils safely and effectively. To be successful in aromatherapy, one need know about percentages and figuring out how those percentages transfer into a drop count, a tablespoon count or whatever is needed. Logic is also necessary. A logical question is: If one’s body reacts best to geranium oil, but also works well with other oils, how much geranium should go in the mix? Well, geranium is a very delicately scented oil. It would work well as a middle note but only in a large percentage. And geranium happens to be a very gentle oil which one can use safely in larger percentages. Alternately, substitute clove for geranium in the question. Clove is a very strong oil. One need not use a lot to get a good effect. In fact, with this particular oil less tends to have greater success. Clove oil can be dangerous if not very diluted. Therefore, the answer would be a much smaller percentage. And the rest of the answers for the blend lie in all those other oils one’s body reacts well to and the appropriate percentage of each of those in the particular mix. There may be more than one mix for some individuals.
Learning about people is vital to being an effective aromatherapist. There are standard blends that work well for most. Often there are blends that are great just for women, or just for men. Blends for children take extreme caution. The only oils that should be used for kids are lavender, roman chamomile, german chamomile, and mandarin. An older child might also get spearmint for chest infections. Obviously people are looking for all variety of answers: emotional healing; preventing and healing physical ills; attaining healthy, beautiful skin and hair; as an aid to sexuality; and more. Some people are looking for more than one answer in a product and that can be done with personalized aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy also takes creativity. Perfumery is a wonderful art. I consider aromatherapy to be the perfect marriage between herbology and perfumery. The basics of perfumery involve scent notes within a blend. There are no hard and fast rules. I often use many oils for each note: note blends within each basic note (top, middle, and base). It is similar to a chef knowing how to blend and cook each ingredient to not only taste the best, but also to attain the healthiest outcome for the body. Sometimes to achieve a healing goal it takes multifaceted layering of many oils. For some healing needs, a simpler blend works better. Learning which oils match takes much study and experimentation.
It takes a proper balance of talent, logic, intuition, and study to be a good aromatherapist. Practice makes for a brilliant aromatherapist.

III. Perfume Notes

Top notes are the first to hit the nose. They form the immediate impression of the scent. Some good top notes are: Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Mandarin, Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon, and Basil.

Middle notes are the core of the blend and in general are mixed in a greater percentage than the top and base notes. Their scents take time to emerge. They add depth and a feeling of the unknown coming to light. Some good middle notes are: Lavender, Geranium, Rosewood, Cedarwood, and Rosemary.

Nice base notes are rich, heavy, and heady. Base notes surface slowly and linger. They often have fixative qualities which keep the lighter, more volatile oils from evaporating too quickly. Some good base note are: Benzoin, Patchouli, Rose, Jasmine, Frankincense, and Myrrh.

IV. Safety Issues

Oils to Use with Extreme Caution
Avoid if Pregnant: Anise, Aniseed, Basil, Clary Sage, Cypress, Cinnamon, Fennel, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper, Marjoram, Myrrh, Oregano, Peppermint, Rose, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme. Especially in the first three months.
Avoid if you have Epilepsy: Camphor, Fennel, Hyssop, Sage, Rosemary.
Used with Extreme Caution on Skin: Nutmeg, Clove, Cinnamon, Camphor, Pine, Eucalyptus, All Mints, All Citrus Oils.

Avoid in exposure to Sun: All Citrus Oils

Avoid with high blood Pressure: Hyssop, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage

Use extreme caution when treating children.

All essential oils and bases are recommended for External Use Only.

General Recipes for Pure Blends – Somewhat more or less should be added depending on the oils chosen.

Recipes & Directions for Usage – These are General Guidelines. Remember, you can always add more, if you need to.
-	Pure Essential Oil Blends may be used in a diffuser or nebulizer the same way a single Essential Oil would. (6-10 drops)
-	Use 8-20 drops per 2oz of Distilled Water to make a Room Spray. Put in a sprayer bottle. Shake well. May be used on body, in air, on clothing, in closets & more.
-	Use 18 drops per 8oz liquid Castile soap to make a Fragrant Soap.
-	Use 15 drops per 4oz carrier oil (Sweet Almond Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, & Evening Primrose Oil are good choices) for Massage/Bath/Skin Oil.
-	Use 6-8 drops of neat oil in the tub, for a relaxing Bath.
-	Mix with 50% blend of carrier oil (Sweet Almond Oil & Distilled Hemp Seed Oil are good choices) for Perfume/Cologne. May also be used neat as a Perfume/Cologne on less sensitive skin.
i've got a few ideas of what to use in my clinic room in my aromatherpy candle burner for the cold and flu season, but i'd be open to other's suggestions:

generally, i try to use lavender with other floral scents, and some base notes, all the time; since some people are sensitive to scent, i try to be careful with the more volatile things like eucalyptus, etc.

nonetheless, any recipes or suggestions greatly appreciated, as it would be a better remedy than spraying the treatment room with lysol spray (which i personally don't mind....but the scent in the spray is irritating to some patients)

thanks!

Hi all!

I got back from the beach yesterday and checked my concoction of orange and lemon zest in 2 cups of perfumer's alcohol. Um! It was light orange and had a strong citrus smell. Yay! First time I have done this.

It reminds me of myself as a five year old, sitting on my front porch, squeezing out rose petals, lilacs and violets into bottles of water, trying to capture my favorite frangrances. I always felt so disappointed and impotent, just ending up with brown grassy watery messes. Too bad I did not know that I should have been using alcohol.

Today I ordered some liquid benzoin, apricot kernel oil, citric acid (to make bath fizzies) and green clay (for facial masks) for the first time. It will be fun to pick these up on Monday.

At the beach I went to a little craft class at the Worldmark resort. We made bath salts: 1/4 cup epsom salts, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1/8 cup salt. Color and fragrance added as you wish.

I hope to write more of my every day aromatherapy adventures here. You can see that it's nothing dramatic, but that it's fun to read about what other people are doing. I am hoping that you all will sometimes just write about stuff like this here, not necessarily in answer to this post, you could do that of course, but you could also make your own posts. I would enjoy reading about your adventures greatly. After all, I do need to be entertained!
This morning I got rid of all my old "science experiments". Tired of my inattention to details, I rounded up all bottles of blends I have made that were not labeled, or the labels have become unreadable. I put the well labeled bottles in a separate box.

I dumped the contents of the porely labeled bottles down the sink. What a powerful and wonderful odor! Then I let all the bottles and lid soak in hot soapy water in a bowl. Next, I rinsed them all individually and severally in hot soapy water. Now I've got them soaking in alcohol. Soon, I'll rinse them, and then I have to find a place to let them dry out a bit.

I don't like to wait for things to infuse, marry, soak, and so forth. But I went ahead anyway! Wish me luck! The recipe I am working on is the one I introduced before. I am copying it below. I hope it turns out well enough to use for gifts, because I used a lot of my precious alcohol for it.

Hi guys,

For years my husband has used Head & Shoulders Shampoo. He says his head feels itchy using anything else. So I found a recipe in one of my books for dandruff shampoo. I ordered the base shampoo and body gel from Liberty Natural Products. It cost something like $3.65 for 16 ounces.

I decided to make a four ounce bottle of the shampoo recipe so halved it. I got out the four ounce plastic flip-top bottle and then I told my husband I wanted HIM to make the shampoo. Nothing like giving someone else the POWER! So I had him pour in the base, and then handed him each essential oil to put in, 4 drops each.

So far he likes the new shampoo, and doesn't feel itchy. He uses the Head and Shoulders once a week, and the new shampoo every day. He is going to give it two more weeks to see if it really works. Then if it does, we'll order a gallon of the shampoo base, which will mean that 16 ounces will cost around $2.25 or maybe a little more.

Here is the recipe:

8 ounces base shampoo
8 drops rosemary (you knew it had to be rosemary)
8 drops lemon E.O.
8 drops geranium.

It takes work to get people to change a brand!-

Fireside

This woody composition is a great fragrance for men. It has herbal notes and an enriching base of frankincense and myrrh.

6 drops juniper
6 drops pine (I used Scotch pine)
4 drops myrrh
6 drops cedarwood
8 drops sandalwood
4 drops frankincense

Fill a sterilized glass bottle with 3/4 teaspoon vodka and add the scented oils in the order given.

Tuberose - maybe the all-out sexiest scent on earth. A tuberose flower in a glass of champagne (make that TWO tuberoses in TWO glasses of champagne) can turn a toast into something toastier.

Ylang-Ylang - warm, tropical, feminine, sexy. Don't overdo, as it's known to cause headaches in strong concentrations, but see if it doesn't make you feel more confident when you're wearing a bit of it diluted in jojoba.

Clary Sage - at first sniff you may not think of Clary Sage as a perfume oil (it smells a little like hay to most people), but it has properties both euphoric and aphrodisiac, and works well in blends.

There are others, but those are my top three "Ain't I a Love Goddess?" scents.

I want to detox my home, which we recently moved into after some very unsavory folks. I need to be careful of my children who both have allergies and one has asthma. Tea tree and lavender have been safe for both, so I think that would be a good blend, though I'd love other ideas too.

I am a new tribe member and an aromatherapy enthusiast. I have always enjoyed all natural or nature-based bodycare products.

As I grew an interest in massage therapy, I grew an interest in essential oils. I now have a Warm Spirit business, LEGACY [www.tayloradams.biz], and it's a nature-based beauty and wellness direct sales company. Most of our products contain essential oils, only therapuetic grade.

Of course, I feel the products are wonderful. The aromas entoxicating and cleansing. The oils are used in soaps, shower gels, lotions, body butters (along with shea butter), body scrubs, herbal wraps, and soy candles. We do receive some training in aromatherapy and there is a recommended reading list.

I would love feedback from the aromatherapy experts here regarding using essential oils in other products.

Stay Blessed, Joy & Warm Spirit!

I have used essential oils in the past for scenting herbal products I've crafted, but I really discovered the power of essential oils when I found therapeutic-grade Young Living Essential Oils about 4 years ago. I am a physical therapist, and offer an aroma-therapeutic bodywork at Sausalito Healing Arts. From time to time I offer a workshop on this Technique, called the Raindrop Technique.

This weekend I am sponsoring a workshop called Accessing your Intuition and Essential Oils. See the Event page on this tribe for information.

Also, visit my website www.vitalessences.com to get started if you would like to try these gourmet oils and other supplements and personal care products complimented with e-oils. I'm available for questions.

Additionally, I'm interested in finding team members to market and educate about Young Living, offer the way to health!
